This high quality die cast model displays the famous Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ race car which were built in 1963-65 in 112 pcs.

The Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ – called TZ1 many times since the most powerful TZ2 replaced in 1965 – is the very first model was made by Carlo Chiti and the Autodelta which was the official racing department of Alfa Romeo between 1963 and the late 80s when Fiat took over the company.

The two capital letters in the name of the model stands for Tubolare Zagato. Tubolare means the chassis frame was built from tubes (tubular spaceframe). This chassis was covered by lightweight aluminium panels and glasses were replaced by plexi but the front windscreen. The design came from Zagato the well-known coachbuilder of Milan. The result was an only 650 kgs heavy (or even more light) car both for roads and racetracks.

The 1.6-litre engine came from the Giulia production models but with a twin-spark cylinder head – later featured in the GTA model -and of course more power. 112 bhp for the roads and a healthy 160 bhp for the tracks.
